Mister Sinister is a too much recent character to belong to my teen-aged readings of Marvel Comics. The hero, in fact, was created by Chris Claremont (drawn by Marc Silvestri) and his first appearance dates back to 1987 in the USA and even to 1992 in Italy, when the original Editorial Corno (the reference basis of my knowledge of the Marvel world) was out of business for 8 years! Not only. Sinister is a criminal genius belonging to the multi-colored mutant world (often in partnership with Apocalypse, another sworn enemy of X-Men, well subsequent to the Silver Age of Comics) which, as already said, I feel no particular attraction for. Nevertheless, I believe the charm and aesthetics of this statue are truly amazing, so much so that I decided to purchase and put it into collection, although the character is quite extraneous to my main interests. Sculpted by Seth Vandable in 2009 and released in 900 samples, the statue shows Sinister in a just sketched dynamic pose, with raised arms and open hands, in a posture of a mad ruler! The physique, very powerful and slender, is characterized by an enormous chest and oversized, hyper-defined muscles on arms, back, chest and abdomen. The costume is very faithful to the tables of Comics: it exhibits a blue background with a vaguely metallic tone and a superb chromatic contrast with the red belt at waist and the inner part of the unusual cloak, made up of many fringes that go down from the shoulders almost to the feet of the figure. The muscle contours are highly emphasized by deep dark shades and hues of color and also the high boots covering the legs up to the quadriceps are very well done. The face is spectacular! The hair is black and squared, while the thick outlines of the red eyes stand out to perfection upon the white background of the face, slightly tinged with a pale blue and enriched with the diamond centered on the forehead. At the same time, the black-purple lips highlight the sharp teeth tightened in a paranoid and mocking sneer! Note the excellent sculpt and the great naturalness of the hands and the perfect curvature of the wide cuff around the head of the character, where the red color increases the visual impact of the whole. The base is rather large and elaborate. It depicts a tangle of pipes of various sizes and two side capsules with a sort of translucent cover, probably the remains of a machine dedicated to cloning. The prices of this statue on the market are always very high and its availability very poor, thus confirming the great appreciation of collectors and a realization care definitely above average. A collectible of great charm and top-class level.
